青年千人Jörg Götte副教授研究组招收研究生 PhD position - Chiral light matter interactions

A PhD position for a theory project on the interaction of quantum systems (atoms, molecules) with tailored light field is available. One line of research is to develop optically enhanced spectroscopy of molecules, building on from recent work (PRA 94, 032505 (2016)], however the project more generally aims to investigate the interaction of structured light with matter, including optical forces and energy level shifts.

A sound background in optics and quantum mechanics is  required, as well as the willingness to learn about and develop numerical codes to calculate optical properties of quantum systems.

The position is available in the group of Jörg Götte, who was recently awarded a professorship from the Youth Thousand Talent Programme [青年千人]. After graduation from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, and a postdoctoral fellowship at Leiden University in the Netherlands, he was awarded a Newton International Fellowship from the Royal Society. From 2011 to 2016 he held a post at the Max Planck Institute in Dresden, Germany, where he was responsible for a small group of researcher working on light matter interactions involving the angular momentum of light and particles waves. He has published over 30 papers, including publications in Nature Communications, Light: Science & Applications and Physical Review Letters, as well as authored 2 book chapters.

The project is a collaboration with the group of Professor Steve Barnett at University of Glasgow in Scotland [www.gla.ac.uk/schools/physics/research/groups/qtg/] and I anticipate a frequent exchange between our two groups.
