He is also a board member of the Chinese Materials Research Society, a counselor of China High-Tech Enterprises, an editorial board member of Journal of Materials Science & Technology and International Journal of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, a vice president of Jiangsu Innovative Strategic Alliance on High Performance Alloy Industry Technology and Jiangsu Society for Mechanical Engineering. His research areas include the surface, interface, phase transition, property and scale effect of nanometer materials and structure design & property optimization of nanometer metal film and multi-layer film. Meng has taken charge of more than 20 research projects such as the National Key Basic Research Program (the 973 Program), written and translated 4 academic books (including book chapters), published over 170 SCI papers in internationally renowned journals, attained over 20 Chinese patents, and won 10 scientific and technological awards at and above ministerial and provincial levels.
