| Research Areas: Development of new drugs; biomaterials; biomedical technology Profile: Ning Xinghai is a professor, doctoral supervisor. He received his doctorate from the University of Georgia and was engaged in post-doctoral research at Georgia Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2011. He worked as a project scientist at the University of California, Berkeley, from 2012 to 2014. It was in 2014 that he was selected into the fifth group of China’s “Global Experts” and started to teach at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Nanjing University. Ning has been conducting research on biomedicine for a long time, focusing on the most challenging cutting-edge interdisciplinary research involving chemistry, molecular biology, pharmacy, materials science and medicine. He is devoted to the design of functional biomaterials and devices as well as the development of the principles, technologies and products of disease diagnosis and treatment by combing basic disciplinary theories with engineering technology and taking into consideration the needs of gene therapy and cell therapy.
